Following Prom 38 earlier in the evening, we stayed on for the late night prom. This was done by 'The Spaghetti Western Orchestra'
The inventive Spaghetti Western Orchestra present their own unique take on Western soundtracks and the music of Ennio Morricone - look out for asthma inhalers, cereal packets and other unlikely instruments.
We didn't really know what to expect. Would it be done for laughs? would it be in all seriousness? It could have gone either way. Well, it was both - the music was great, very well performed, and the laughs were thrown in as appropriate.
The BBC have uploaded a clip from the middle of the show to youtube, and the audio is available until Friday 19th August, 2011, on iplayer. It will be broadcast on BBC 4 television on the 26th August.
At one point, the prommers were going 'Ahh-eee-aaa-eee-Ahhh' with those of us 'on the shelves' replying 'Wah Wah Waaah' - simple stuff, but damned good fun.
It was a big sound made by 5 guys, all with an appropriate spaghetti interjections. Great fun, and highly recommended if you ever get the chance to see them (BBC 4 TV, 26th August!)
