I'm not a supporter of the death penalty, there is no reprieve if a sentence is carried out in error - and also, for some it is just too easy, but every so often there is an offence which really puts this to the test:
A man who raped his unconscious teenage stepdaughter as she lay dying from a head injury has been jailed for nine years at the High Court in Glasgow.
Essentially, the girl had fallen and injured her head. Her stepfather carried her upstairs and raped her as she died of her injuries.
He was found in bed with his stepdaughter by a relative.
Nine years is far too short a sentence... but something tells me that it will seem a lot longer to the guy once the general prison population learns who he is.
