Lies, Damned Lies and Convention Speeches

Slate has an interesting piece which looks at some of the muck that has been thrown about in this US convention season.

In particular, there is the claim that Kerry voted against certain weapon systems – and this has some interesting asides.

What amazes me as an outsider is that Bush, who didn’t go to Vietnam, would choose to bring into question the record of someone that did.

I am not suggesting that every US politician should have gone to Vietnam, but I am suggesting that it’s an odd stick for the republicans to choose to beat the democrats with.
